No.01-No.28は商品として販売されました。

Design Gallery LICHT is pleased to announce an exhibition of chairs designed by Rei Kawakubo, the founder of the prêt-à-porter brand COMME des GARÇONS and a world-renowned fashion designer.

Kawakubo designed furniture for about 10 years, from 1983 to 1993. At the time, he was unable to find the perfect furniture for his boutique, so he designed his own chairs and tables as an extension of his space design, which is said to have been the beginning of his career. Kawakubo was originally a stylist.Over the past 10 years, Kawakubo has produced about 40 pieces of furniture. Kawakubo has produced about 40 pieces of furniture over the past 10 years, and this time, three carefully selected chairs will be displayed in the LICHT space.

In my case, I only make furniture when I am inspired to do so. In my case, I only make furniture when I have a creative urge, and that's when I take in materials and shapes that I like in a flash of inspiration.

-From an interview with Kawakubo in the November 1992 issue of ELLE DECOR (published by Hearst Fujingaho)

Kawakubo's chairs, which are also included in the permanent collections of museums around the world, can be said to be both furniture with a purpose and art pieces that transform spaces. We invite you to experience their unique appearance at the exhibition.
