この度デザインギャラリーLichtでは、スペインを拠点にするデザイナー、Jorge Suárez-Kilzi(ホルヘ・スアレス＝キルジ)のデザインした「MushLamp」の展示受注会を開催致します。

建築家としてのキャリアを積みながらも、文化的に多様なバックグラウンドを持つキルジの作品は、中南米のヴァナキュラーアートに影響を受け、要素を削ぎ落としたシンプルな実用性と、思想やヒストリーを秘めたアートとしての魅力を兼ね備えています。ファイバーグラスとオーガニックレジンから作られたプリミティブな造形のMush Lampは、スケッチがそのまま三次元のボリュームを得たかのようなシルエットによって、日常と非日常の間を軽やかに行き来するようです。

国内では未だ触れられる機会の少ない、新鋭デザイナーによるプロダクト。この機会にぜひご高覧ください。

Jorge Suárez-Kilzi(ホルヘ・スアレス＝キルジ)は、スペインを拠点にするデザイナー。ベネズエラでスペインとシリアの血を引く移民の両親のもとに生まれる。スイスで建築を学んだ後、日本に渡り建築家としてSANAAや石上純也の事務所で経験を積む。2018年にはフリーランスの建築家兼アーティストになることを決断し、陶器や家具のデザインに移行。

Mush Lamp by Jorge Suárez-Kilzi Exhibition

Design Gallery Licht is pleased to announce the exhibition and sale of "MushLamp" designed by Spain-based designer Jorge Suárez-Kilzi.

Influenced by the vernacular art of Central and South America, Kilzi's work, influenced by his career as an architect but with a culturally diverse background, combines simplicity and practicality, stripped of elements, with an appeal as art that holds thought and history. The primitive Mush Lamp, made from fiberglass and organic resin, seems to move lightly between the everyday and the extraordinary, with a silhouette that looks as if a sketch has gained three-dimensional volume.

These products by up-and-coming designers are rarely seen in Japan. We hope you will take this opportunity to view them.

Jorge Suárez-Kilzi is a designer based in Spain. He was born in Venezuela to immigrant parents of Spanish and Syrian heritage. After studying architecture in Switzerland, he moved to Japan to gain experience as an architect in the offices of SANAA and Junya Ishigami.In 2018, he decided to become a freelance architect and artist, transitioning to ceramic and furniture design.
