この度ギャラリーリヒトでは、中国の新進デザイナーSteven Yeung（スティーブン・ヨン）率いるkar-studioの企画展を開催いたします。

デザイナーの手によって粘土で形作られ、そのままFRPで巨大化したような「Not by Intention」コレクションを中心に展示販売いたします。機能的な目的ではなく、本能的な感覚に従って造形された有機的な形状は、「人々にさまざまな感情を呼び起こし、共鳴器のような存在となる」という言葉の通り、根源的な身体感覚を拡張する存在としての家具を提示します。

東洋由来の思想を背景に持ちながら、上海やミラノ、ニューヨーク等で展示を重ね、国際的な評価を高める同ブランド。日本での初展示となるこの機会に、ぜひご高覧ください。

kar-studioは、2020年に中国のデザイナー、Steven Yeung（スティーブン・ヨン）が設立した家具とファッションのブランド。ブランド名「kar-」は「行為」や「業」を意味するサンスクリット語の「karma」に由来。有機的で彫刻的なコレクションの数々は、衣服や家具であると同時に独創的な作品である。広州にショールーム「Kar room」を構える。

Kar Studio Exhibition

Gallery Licht is pleased to announce a special exhibition by kar-studio, led by Steven Yeung, an emerging Chinese designer.

The exhibition will focus on the "Not by Intention" collection, which seems to have been formed in clay according to the designer's instinct and then made into a giant FRP sculpture. Inspired by the designer's personal experience, the organic shapes present furniture as an extension of the physical senses, "evoking various emotions in people and becoming a kind of resonator," as the designer says.

The brand, with a background of Oriental-derived ideas, has exhibited in Shanghai, Milan, New York, and other cities, and is gaining international acclaim. We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the exhibition, which will be the first time it will be shown in Japan.

kar-studio is a furniture and fashion brand founded by Chinese designer Steven Yeung in 2020. The brand name "kar-" is derived from the Sanskrit word "karma" meaning "action" or "karma. The organic and sculptural collections are creative works of art as well as clothing and furniture. They have their own showroom "Kar room" in Guangzhou.
