この度リヒトギャラリーでは、グループエキシビジョン"A Distance To Mass"を開催いたします。

展示するのは、7名のインディペンデント・デザイナーによる多様な作品群。国籍も扱う素材も異なる彼らに共通しているのは、小規模工場のクラフトマンと協業したり、スタジオベースで作品を製作している点です。自らの手と感覚を頼りに、素材の特性、デザイナー個人の感情や思考を繊細に捉えた作品性は、工業的な均質さや即時性が重視される価値観への軽やかな抵抗であり、量産(Mass)の外縁から、ものづくりの在り方を問い直す試みでもあります。

本展で紹介する多くの作品は、日本では初公開となります。これからの時代をかたちづくるであろうデザイナーたちの、機知に富んだ自由な実践を、ぜひ会場にてご体感ください。

LICHT is pleased to present the group exhibition “A Distance To Mass”.

The exhibition features the diverse work of seven independent designers. They come from different countries and work with different materials, but what they all have in common is that they create their work in their studio or collaborating with craftsmen from small-scale factories. Their work, which relies on their own hands and senses and delicately captures the characteristics of the materials and the feelings and thoughts of the individual designers, is a light-hearted resistance to values that emphasise industrial homogeneity and immediacy, and an attempt to question the nature of manufacturing from the outer edges of mass production.

Many of the works presented in this exhibition are being shown for the first time in Japan. We invite you to experience the witty and free practice of the designers who will shape the coming era.
