この度リヒトギャラリーでは、スペインを拠点に活動するデザイナー、Jorge Suárez-Kilzi（ホルヘ・スアレス・キルジ）の企画展を開催いたします。

ベネズエラに生まれ、さまざまな国を渡り歩いてきたキルジ。彼の歩んできた移動の軌跡は、ラテンアメリカや日本をはじめとする各地の風土芸術と結びつき、その中に息づくアニミズム（精霊信仰、自然崇拝）の精神を受け継いでいます。「作品には個性と魂があり、共に静かに過ごす友人のようだ」と語る彼は、多様な自然素材を巧みに操りながら、オブジェクトの生を感じさせる一瞬を独自の視点で切り取っていきます。

この度の企画展では、新作を中心に、過去に手がけたプロダクトも織り交ぜながら、多彩な表現がひとつの空間に展示されます。どこかユーモラスで愛らしい作品たちとの対話を通じて、「ともに生きるもの」としてのデザインのあり方を問いかける場となるでしょう。

Jorge Suárez-Kilzi（ホルヘ・スアレス・キルジ）は、スペインを拠点にするデザイナー。スイスで建築を学んだ後、日本に渡り建築家としてSANAAや石上純也の事務所で経験を積む。2018年にはフリーランスの建築家兼アーティストになることを決断し、陶器や家具のデザインに移行。

This autumn, LICHT gallery presents a solo exhibition by Jorge Suárez-Kilzi, a designer based in Spain.

Born in Venezuela and having lived across many countries, Suárez-Kilzi’s journey intertwines with the folk arts and landscapes of Latin America, Japan, and beyond, carrying within it the spirit of animism—nature worship and belief in spirits. “Each piece has its own character and soul, like a quiet companion,” he explains. With a masterful use of diverse natural materials, he captures fleeting moments that give objects a sense of life.

This exhibition will showcase new works alongside selected past pieces, bringing together a wide range of expressions in one space. Through dialogue with these charming and often humorous objects, the show invites us to reflect on design as “something to live with.”

Jorge Suárez-Kilzi is a Spain-based designer. After studying architecture in Switzerland, he moved to Japan and gained experience at SANAA and Junya Ishigami’s office. In 2018, he decided to become an independent architect and artist, shifting his practice toward ceramics and furniture design.
