LICHT galleryでは、デザイナー・藤城成貴による作品「MIX」の企画展を開催いたします。

「MIX」は、2018年に株式会社竹尾が主催する「TAKEO PAPER SHOW」をきっかけに始まったプロジェクトです。卵パックなどの緩衝材として広く使われているペーパーモールドの技法に、色彩豊かな竹尾のファインペーパーを組み合わせることで、新たな表情を持つ作品が生まれました。

ペーパーショウの後も藤城は金型を借り受け、工場と協働しながら自身の手で制作を続けてきました。ベースとなる紙を選び、そこに細かく加工した別の色紙を加えていく実験のなかで、人工的でありながら予測のできない色や質感の重なりが生まれていきます。そこから現れるかたちはすべて異なる表情を宿し、同じものはひとつとして存在しません。

本展では、これまで制作されてきた約400点の作品を用い、実際に手に取ってご覧いただける販売エリアとインスタレーションによって展示を構成します。また、企画展にあわせて、プロジェクトの試行の軌跡を辿る作品集『MIX』を限定300部で刊行いたします。

藤城成貴
東京と長野を拠点にするデザイナー。株式会社イデーのデザイナーを経て、2005 年に自身のスタジオ「shigeki fujishiro design」を設立。インテリアプロダクトを主軸に活動を行なっている。エルメス、アディダス、カンペール、有田焼のブランド「2016/」といったブランドとのコラボレーションをする一方、自身でプロダクトの企画、生産、販売まで行なっている。近年はデンマークのテキスタイルブランド KVADRAT 社による「Knit!」や多治見の焼き物プロジェクト「MINO SOIL」、香川県の庵治石を使った「AJI project」といったプロジェクトに参加している。

LICHT Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works from the project “MIX” by designer Shigeki Fujishiro.

“MIX” is a project that began in 2018 following the TAKEO PAPER SHOW organized by Takeo Co., Ltd. By combining the paper molding technique—widely used for protective packaging such as egg cartons—with the richly colored fine papers distributed by Takeo, the project developed into works with distinctive expressions.

After the paper show, Fujishiro continued the project by borrowing the molds and working collaboratively with the factory while producing the pieces himself. By selecting a base paper and adding finely processed pieces of colored paper, unexpected layers of color and texture begin to emerge. The process is artificial, yet the results remain unpredictable. Each piece reveals its own unique expression, and no two are ever the same.

For this exhibition, approximately 400 works produced throughout the project will be presented through both an installation and a sales area where visitors can view and handle the pieces directly. In conjunction with the exhibition, a publication titled “MIX,” tracing the experimental trajectory of the project, will be released in a limited edition of 300 copies.

Shigeki Fujishiro
A designer based in Tokyo and Nagano. After working as a designer at IDEE Co., Ltd., he established his own studio, “shigeki fujishiro design,” in 2005. His practice centers on interior products. While collaborating with brands such as Hermès, Adidas, Camper, and the Arita porcelain brand “2016/,” he also independently plans, produces, and distributes his own products. In recent years, he has participated in projects including “Knit!” by the Danish textile company KVADRAT, the ceramics initiative “MINO SOIL” in Tajimi, and “AJI project,” which utilizes Aji stone from Kagawa, Japan.
